• Member of ASHA Special Interest Groups (SIG) 13 (Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders); SIG 12 (Augmentative Alternative Communication: AAC); and SIG 02 (Neurogenic Communication Disorders)

• Recipient of 4 American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Awards for Continuing Education (ACE)


EXPERIENCE

• Experience in a rehabilitation, public school, and clinical settings
• Clients served included individuals with traumatic head injury, stroke victims, and low incidence population (Severe/Profound Intellectual Disabilities)
• Over 10 years of experience in the public school setting centered in the low incidence population working with medically fragile students with multiple disabilities as well as students with emotional and behavioral disorders
• Provides assessment and intervention strategies to support the students receptive and expressive language skills, cognitive skills, and feeding and swallowing issues

• Strong focus in Assistive Technology (AT)/Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) as well as feeding and swallowing issues

CLINICAL and EDUCATION SUPPORT

• Works closely with families and school staff to train and coach them on ways to use AT/AAC with students who are non-verbal, and speech delayed to support their communication needs.
